Sailajananda Falguni Smriti Mahavidyalaya is a Govt.-aided Degree college affiliated to the University of Burdwan. The college is located at Khayrasole, Birbhum, West Bengal which is approximately 35 kms away from the district head quarter, Suri and 10 kms away from Panchra Railway Station. It is adjacent to the border of the neighboring state Jharkhand. The foundation-stone of this college was led on 17th July, 1995 by Binay Krishna Choudhury, the then Honourable Minister-in-Charge of Land and Land Reforms, Govt. of West Bengal. The institution is named in the memory of two eminent Bengali litterateurs – Sailajananda Mukhopadhyay and Falguni Mukhopadhyay of this locality. The college got its approval to the Govt. of West Bengal on 17th August, 1998 and also affiliation to the University of Burdwan in the same year. It presently offers three-year degree course of Arts faculty in six Honours and seven General subjects. Since its inception to present time, this institution is committed to impart quality education to the students of this remote, rural and backward area.

onsidering the progress of the college, The University Grant Commission had included it under its 2F and 12B registration in 2000 and as a consequence, the college received its first financial assistance for the academic session 2006-07. Presently, two NSS Units and one NCC Wing of this college are working successfully for the all round personality development of the students. The college hosted four UGC-Sponsored national Seminars in the Department of History (21-22 January, 2012), in the Department of Philosophy (6-7 March, 2012), in the Department of Geography (7-8 February, 2017) and in the Department of Political Science (22-23 February, 2017) one each. Despite several difficulties the college is striving hard to carve out a niche for itself in the academic arena of West Bengal.
